In March of this year, we were told we would get reacquainted with the simpler things of life as a result of the Covid pandemic shutdowns. Well, that has certainly happened to all of us, likely worldwide. Unfortunately, we sometimes spend too much time lamenting what we CAN’T do instead of realizing what we CAN do. For example, consider how uncertain times have opened up unprecedented opportunities to witness:
“For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences; and earthquakes, in divers places.” Matthew 24:7
“And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Revelation 19:10
The Bible makes it clear that prophecy is being fulfilled before our very eyes, and what better way to witness Christ to the lost than through Bible prophecy.
Pandemic times have continued to be fruitful times at TVBC, from the summer preaching conference to the recent missions conference where the Lord enabled our church to give just under $700,000 for the 2019/2020 missions year, by faith promise giving. Assistant Pastor Matt Marshall and his family arrived in August. While it is true that some ministries had to be put on hold, consider how many have continued: Master Club, Sunday School, Bible Institute, Treasure Valley Baptist School, and homeschool meetings. There was also boys’ football, girls’ volleyball, youth activities, and summer camps. Bus ministry has restarted under leadership of Ethan Sweet and his crew faithful workers. Door-to-door outreach continues along with the scripture sign ministry. There are many others we could mention, but I’m sure you get the idea. Services have continued steadily with inspiring music and powerful preaching. All along the live-stream ministry has attracted a growing viewership. Men’s prayer meetings and ladies bible studies keep going strong.
You see, it’s not about what we can’t do, but what we can do!
Looking forward, we can anticipate blessings in our upcoming events such as winter camps for the youth and our bible conference in early March with Evangelist Mark Rogers. So, let’s no longer worry about what we can’t do, but rejoice in what a sovereign God has allowed all of us to do.
Your Pastor and Friend,
Rick DeMichele
